Edera ↗ series-a

Secure-by-design workload isolation for containers and AI using Type 1 hypervisor technology.

Container Security Kubernetes Security AI Security Cloud Security Workload Isolation

Overview

Edera was founded on a thesis: the container security industry has spent a decade building detection tools for a problem that should be solved with isolation. Instead of alerting when a container escape happens, Edera prevents it architecturally — each workload runs in its own hypervisor-enforced boundary with no shared kernel.

What They’re Building

The core product wraps Kubernetes workloads in a Type 1 hypervisor (not a VM, not a sidecar — actual hardware-level isolation), preventing an attacker who compromises one container from pivoting anywhere else in the cluster. This is especially critical for AI workloads, where multi-tenant inference environments create novel lateral movement vectors.

Traction

  • $5M seed (early 2024)
  • $15M Series A led by M12 (Microsoft’s venture fund) — February 2025
  • Strong early adoption in AI infrastructure and regulated cloud environments

Why It Matters

As enterprises run increasingly sensitive AI workloads in shared Kubernetes clusters, the threat surface for container escapes grows. Edera’s hypervisor approach closes the class of attacks that detection tools can only react to after the fact.
